Vicki has been a Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) since 2005. She has worked in both secondary care, inpatient diabetes and more recently in primary care as part of a newly commissioned integrated diabetes team called Liverpool Diabetes Partnership. The team has won a number of awards for their work since the new service became fully operational in 2015. Vicki qualified as a nurse in 2002 in Birmingham and became a non medical prescriber in 2008. Following a move to Liverpool in 2009, Vicki worked as a dedicated DSN for 6 years before branching into the community setting. Vicki has also just started her MSc Diabetes Practice part time course at the University of Swansea. Vicki is part of the DSN Forum UK admin team and also belongs to the Diabetes 101 twitter team, which was set up in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Vicki is passionate about diabetes care and is always keen to get involved in new an innovative ways to raise awareness and educate both health care professionals and those people living with diabetes. A large part of Vicki's role is to support and work alongside primary care staff including practice nurses, district nursing teams and nursing home staff to improve diabetes care in the community.
