Professor Sarita Jacob is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) with a special interest in ocular ultrasound, diabetic retinopathy and medical education. She has pioneered the ocular ultrasound service at UHB and offers a regional service in the West Midlands. She leads the Birmingham, Solihull and Black Country Diabetic Eye Screening programme, the largest urban diabetic eye screening programme in the UK and Europe as the clinical lead for the programme. She has been heavily involved in the undergraduate medical education in Birmingham and has won several awards for her contribution to teaching and training. Her primary research is focussed on diabetic retinopathy and medical education, reflecting her commitment to advancing patient care and training future health care professionals. She has authored numerous peer reviewed publications offering valuable insights into the management of diabetic eye disease.
