Sam Calder qualified as a nurse in 1990 and completed a MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice in 2019 with an emphasis on Long Term Condition (LTC) management in primary care. She has a particular interest in people with type 2 diabetes and creating a culture of shared care amongst the variety of new roles in primary care. This includes the clinical pharmacists and in particular training the new apprenticeship role (Nursing Associates) with the skills to care and manage type 2 diabetes. She now wants to develop an awareness of the implications of the menopause on women living with a long term condition and empowers health professionals into understanding the implications of female health issues that affect their patients' if they are living with diabetes.
