Poppy Brooks

Lead Advanced clinical Practitioner, Cardiac Support Services, North Devon District Hospital
Poppy Brooks has 23 years' experience of cardiology nursing. Initially as a CCU nurse at Southampton General Hospital, where she also worked as an ACS Nurse Specialist and Ward Sister. Poppy moved to Devon in 2015 which is when she became a community Heart Failure Clinical Nurse Specialist. Currently, Poppy is the Lead Nurse for Cardiac Support Services in the northern site of Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Within this role she leads an integrated heart failure service, arrhythmia care and cardiac rehabilitation. Poppy holds a Masters Degree in Acute Medicine and has studied other standalone masters modules in heart failure care, non-medical prescribing and clinical assessment skills. Poppy is proud to have contributed at a national level to organisations and projects aimed at improving heart failure care in the NHS, and which highlight the importance of nursing roles in doing so. Poppy has spoken at national events and has contributed to publications on heart failure in both medical and nursing journals.
