Hello, my name is Helen Bone and I currently manage the Sunderland and South Tyneside Diabetic Screening Programme. I have been involved in the Programme for over 20 years and prior to screening I worked within Sunderland Eye Infirmary for 11 years and developed a real interest in ophthalmology and diabetic eye disease. I am passionate about delivering excellent and safe patient care and have had the pleasure of overseeing many positive screening developments in our local community. By far the most rewarding has been the introduction of a fully inclusive Diabetic Screening One Stop Service in South Tyneside providing 9 annual health checks in a single 45 minute appointment.
