Farooq has been a GP in Merton for the last 24 years. He is a partner at Colliers Wood Surgery in South London and is a GP with specialist interest in Diabetes and Lifestyle Medicine.
He qualified as a doctor from University of Manchester in 1993 and trained initially as an ENT surgeon, before joining General practice.
He has completed a post graduate diploma in ENT and successfully ran a weekly GPSI ENT clinic in Merton for 6 years.
Farooq has worked as a clinical lead for long term condition and then as dementia and diabetes director for Merton CCG. Since the inception of PCNs he has been actively leading changes through his role both as Clinical director of North Merton PCN as well as Merton GP Federation Board member. Farooq has worked in the past for the Health Innovation Network (HIN – South London) as a clinical director for the healthy ageing theme as well.
He is actively involved in teaching undergraduate students from London universities and leads on Clinical governance for his practice.
