Debbie Holder
Diabetes Inpatient Specialist Nurse,
Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital
I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1992 at Ipswich hospital working in elderly medicine; this developed an interest in diabetes. I joined primary care as a practice nurse in 1996 where I continued my interest in diabetes and in 2011 became Lead Nurse of diabetes in Thetford, a large practice. In 2019 I started working as a Diabetes community specialist nurse for the same Norfolk region. I joined the Norwich Inpatient Diabetes team in 2021, and worked as a Diabetes Inpatient Specialist Nurse at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Particular interests of mine are injectable therapies, prevention, and early identification of diabetic foot complications. I am keen on individualised care and patient participation in their treatment choices. I have been involved in regional diabetes educational events, contributed to glucometer research, and podcast via BMJ learning. I am a committee member for Primary Care Diabetes Society, DISN-UK group, Practice Nurse Diabetes Forum for Norfolk and member of the editorial board for Diabetes in Primary Care Journal
