Callum Metcalfe-O'Shea

UK Professional Lead - Long Term Conditions / Interim Head of Nursing Leadership, Royal College of Nursing
Callum is the UK Professional Lead for Long-Term Conditions at the Royal College of Nursing, an award-winning nurse leader, and an advanced nurse practitioner with extensive expertise in diabetes and long-term condition management. He has held senior leadership roles across national and regional levels, including previously being an ICB Clinical Lead for Diabetes. His career spans frontline practice, service leadership, and national policy influence. He has worked with NHS England, developed frontline clinical leadership guidance through the NHS Clinical Leaders Network, and serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of General Practice Nursing and the Journal of Diabetes Nursing. He still practices clinically in primary care. Recognised as the 2024 UK winner of the Primary Care Nurse of Year at the Diabetes Nursing Award, Callum is committed to advancing compassionate and inclusive leadership, workforce development, and innovative models of care to improve outcomes for people living with long-term conditions.
