Co-Founders, Henry Aspden, Andrew Kerr and Andrew Bigg founded Team Type One Style back in December 2020. Originally intended as a UK elite cycling team, the 3 quickly realised that the Type One Diabetes community were missing the sense of a domestic-based T1D community they wanted to create. As a result, they immediately expanded the team to be inclusive of all sports and backgrounds.
The team’s mission statement to “Shift the Perception of Type One Diabetes” is fulfilled on 3 fronts.
- To shift perceptions through awareness and publicity to the public, coaches and other athletes through it’s registered cycling, running and triathlon teams.
- To shift perceptions through empowerment for newly diagnosed athletes, parents, and carers.
- And finally, to shift perceptions through education in healthcare, sporting and education settings by working with HCPs and coaches on how to best assist T1D athletes.
Team Type One Style are proud to be entering a new chapter with a title sponsor Type One Style supporting the team and we hope to progress with our mission with you on board to support us in our objectives of improving the lives of as many of the T1D athletes as possible.
