Adam Mapani currently leads the medical retina nursing team at Moorfields, which puts him at the forefront of developing practice in a wide range of clinical and organisational areas. As well as his clinical role and leadership, he is involved with digital innovation, workforce transformation, patient empowerment and education. He has trained allied healthcare professionals and nurses nationally and internationally. Adam has spoken both nationally and internationally and has published papers in peer review journals. His evidence-based practice approach to patient care lays great emphasis on maximising non-medical staff development in an ophthalmic setting in ever increasing boundaries of practice. Adam continues to play ambassadorial roles, raising eye health, diabetes prevention and delays, and reaching out to those who might not have been reached so far. He has volunteered his time in providing eye care by providing strategic and clinical leadership through Abalon Trust, an international eye charity. (www.abalontrust.org) . In 2024, Adam led a community health screening campaign known as Your Hair and Your Health matters. This initiative was aimed at health screening in partnerships with barbers and hairdressers. He provides mentoring support across different professional disciplines He has won more than 10 prestigious ophthalmology awards over his 23 year Multi -Award-winning, accomplished, and innovative ophthalmology leader and practitioner with deep experience providing patient-focused care.
