Karen Jenkins

Consultant Nurse Renal Medicine, Lead for Renal Palliative Care & Lead for Renal Education & Training,
East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust

Karen has over 30yrs experience in renal nursing and has been a Consultant Nurse since 2003. Aspects of her role include research, leadership, and education & training, in addition to a clinical workload. Her areas of interest include advanced kidney care, diabetes and kidney disease, renal end of life care, education and training of multidisciplinary staff.

She is known nationally and internationally for her work as British Renal Society Vice President for Clinical Practice, Consultant Editor for the Journal of Kidney Care, CKD Consultant for the European Dialysis and Transplant Nurses Association, Founder member of the Anaemia Nurse Specialist Association and  is interim President of the newly formed Association of Nephrology Nurses ( ANN UK). She has published extensively on many aspects of kidney care.
