Sophie currently works as a Diabetes Consultant (Acting up July to October 2019) for the NHS England T1DE (Type 1 diabetes and disordered eating) pilot at King’s College Hospital, London. She works across multiple sites to provide physical health review of adults with Type 1 diabetes and disordered eating in both an in-patient and out-patient setting. Sophie trained in Diabetes & Endocrinology with General Internal Medicine within the South Thames (London) Deanery. She completed a PhD in 2017 at King’s College London. Her PhD investigated reasons for low uptake of diabetes education programmes for adults with T1 diabetes. The findings have informed the creation of the Diabetes Book and Learn service (www.diabetesbooking.co.uk), a one-stop shop for diabetes self-management courses across 12 south London boroughs. She is co-founder of t1resources.uk (https://www.t1resources.uk/home/), a website curating and quality-assuring the best the internet has for people with T1 diabetes. She has worked collaboratively with Bournemouth Diabetes & Endocrine department in the modification of BERTIE online (https://www.bertieonline.org.uk/) and the creation of Datawise (https://www.bertie-monitoring.org.uk/home) Sophie also works as clinical lead for structured education and health inequalities at NHS England (London) and is the Deputy Clinical Director for Diabetes at the Health Innovation Network (HIN), south London’s Academic Health Science Network (AHSN).
