Dr Akhila Mallipedhi

Dr Akhila Mallipedhi qualified in India in 2004 following which she moved to the UK for medical training. After working in the Mersey Deanery completing core medical training, she moved to Wales for higher specialist training in diabetes in 2007, and then working as a specialist registrar in multiple hospitals in Wales.

Additionally, Dr Mallipedhi also spent 2 years conducting research at Swansea University under the supervision of Professor Jeffrey Stephens and Professor Steve Bain investigating the effects of bariatric surgery on insulin resistance, glycaemic control and other aspects of diabetes and inflammation.

Dr Mallipendi Mallipedhi attained her CCT in general medicine and diabetes and endocrinology in 2015 and has been a consultant at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli since then.

Her interests include management of Type 1 diabetes with a special interest in diabetes technology, insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems. She is also involved in antenatal clinics and transition clinics.
