Panel: LTP & The Diabetes Specialist Nursing Workforce

The overall aim of conducting the Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) Audit was to ascertain how many DSNs were employed within NHS England. This presentation will discuss the background behind such an audit being undertaken. It will then go on to reveal the results of the audit and then open to a panel discussion as to the impact of the results and explore some of the issues relating to the results.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify where the nurses are located geographically
  • Determine within which environment the diabetes nurses are located – ‘Hospital, Community or Both’
  • Identify which pay band these nurses work under
  • Understand the current titles used by nurses working wholly within diabetes
