Learning from Real Life Data – highlights of the national ABCD programme

Summarise findings from ABCD nationwide audit programme of new diabetes therapies and devices from over the last 10 years (including GLP-1 receptor agonists, SGLT2 inhibitors, insulin Degludec, FreeStyle Libre). Highlight the differences between data from clinical trials and that from real world experience to show how much more we learn.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand how the learning from real-life data from the ABCD audit programme, over and above the information in the clinical trials, has helped clinical practice
  • Learn what the current audits and planned audits are, what we might learn from them and how to take part, whether as a Consultant, Trainee, General Practitioner, Diabetes Specialist Nurse or Practice Nurse
  • Learn how easy it is to use the online tool to analyse your own data
  • Learn how the audit programme has helped us understand safety issues with regards to new medications, as well as efficacy
