How do we count carbs & cals?
One of the corner stones of nutritional advice for people with diabetes is an awareness of how the food they choose can effect their blood glucose. Knowing; which foods contain carbohydrate, how to find this information out, and why not all carbohydrate is the same, can help people with diabetes to make informed choices. Calories in food also play a key part in food choice and weight management. This talk is aimed at healthcare professionals with limited knowledge of carbohydrate and calories in food.
Chris will give lots of practical advice on how to talk to people about ‘real foods’ in the context of their diabetes management. Focus will be on carbohydrate and calories but he will also cover the importance of the wider food picture.
