Don’t be afraid to open a can of worms – Addressing feelings in consultation about diabetes

Any health professional working in diabetes will be familiar with a consultation, which seems to be going nowhere. While you want the person with diabetes to have better control, he/she seems to unconcerned about the high HbA1c and wants to talk about something unrelated to diabetes. This 30 minute workshop will give you a glimpse of the way we work at Knuston Hall to help you develop an approach which will help people to self-manage their diabetes more effectively.

Learning outcomes:

  • To understand the philosophy of person-centred care
  • To learn communication skills which can be applied in every day practice
  • To understand how the skills and philosophy might affect your professional work
