Data, Devices, Doctors and Diabetes – why the NHS and and the device industry need to change approach

Few areas of medicine are advancing as fast as diabetes technology. Unfortunately, the NHS is ill equipped to manage wholesale implementation with appropriate data use. This talk will attempt to address the issues and use the LifeScan OneTouch Verio Flex meter and OneTouch Reveal Software to illustrate appropriate technology and im-proved data management

Learning outcomes:

  • Healthcare becoming more complex and data-rich but information-poor
  • NHS communications dropping ever further behind the real world
  • Desire to move care into the community but no suitable tools:
  • No proper internal data strategy
  • Information governance rules outdated
  • Appropriate technology¬†– worth v cost in procurement
  • Need to harness Big Data
