10 Minute CBT for motivating change in diabetes
This workshop will provide an introduction to the use of brief 10 Minute cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) skills in patients with diabetes. It is aimed at all health professionals working with people with diabetes, and the approach is designed to be effectively used in routine, brief consultations. Depression, low mood and anxiety are more common in diabetes, and are associated with poorer self-care and worse physical health outcomes. This practical session will review the basic principles of CBT and delegates will develop realistic and effective skills in using a 10 Minute CBT approach to motivate and empower patients in managing their own physical and mental health.
