Raising awareness of type 2 diabetes prevention

Diabetes Prevention Week logo

Diabetes Prevention Week takes place this month, from 16-22 April. Aimed at raising awareness of what people can do to prevent type 2 diabetes, a range of resources are available on the Public Health England website for healthcare professionals who wish to participate in the campaign.

Type 2 diabetes prevention will also be key focus of the DPC2018 conference, with a stream dedicated to Diabetes Prevention & Obesity in Practice. Sessions will include: ‘Type 2 diabetes remissions – study review and what has happened since in practice’, presented by Prof Roy Taylor, Newcastle University; and Dr Trudi Deakin, Chief Executive, X-PERT Health, will discuss ‘Why “eating less and moving more” may not lead to sustainable weight loss – the science unravelled’.
