Optimising painful diabetic neuropathy pathways: enhancing earlier recognition and management in the NHS | This is a Grünenthal sponsored promotional symposium intended for UK HCP'S Only
Painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (pDPN) affects a substantial proportion of people with diabetes in the UK, yet timely recognition and effective management remain inconsistent across primary and secondary care. Delayed diagnosis, fragmented pathways, and suboptimal treatment not only reduce quality of life for patients but also increase pressures on the NHS.
This symposium will present findings from a UK expert consensus study that identified a structured, pragmatic five-step approach to improving pDPN care. By aligning screening, diagnosis, and treatment strategies across primary care, the approach offers a practical pathway to earlier intervention, better patient outcomes, and reduced system burden.
Join Dr Kevin Fernando (GP with specialist interest in Diabetes and CVRM & Medical Education) and Dr Dinesh Selvarajah ( Senior Lecturer in Diabetes at University of Sheffield and Honorary Consultant Physician at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust), who will share complementary perspectives on improving and optimising pDPN pathways across primary and secondary care.
