Hybrid closed loop system roll out 6 months on: challenges and lessons learnt
This presentation will provide an in-depth review of the roll-out of hybrid closed-loop systems within Leicester’s Type 1 diabetes population, six months post-implementation. It will explore the expansion of the insulin pump service, highlighting the innovative use of community centres to facilitate group starts under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team. This approach aimed to onboard larger patient groups more efficiently, saving time and resources while maintaining high safety standards. The session will also examine the local initiatives introduced to upskill the workforce to meet growing service demands. Attendees will gain insights into the challenges faced, lessons learnt, and the critical role of peer support in enhancing patient safety and wellbeing. Furthermore, local statistics will be presented, along with a discussion of the patient outcomes and the overall impact of this initiative on service delivery and patient care.
