Diabetes care in vulnerable and older people
10 Nov 2021
Workshop 3
In the United Kingdom, an increase in the number of people developing diabetes is increasing rapidly. This combined with the number of individuals in our ever increasing aging population has led to many frail and older people being cared for in nursing homes. It is important that Social care staff and health professionals receive appropriate training in the care of individuals with diabetes to ensure safe practice and quality of life.
At the end of this session you will:
- have gained a greater understanding of new diabetes e-Learning courses for those working in the nursing home setting
- Be able to demonstrate appropriate diabetes care for people with diabetes and dementia
- have learned about the updated "Diabetes and End of Life" Recommendations.
