DPC Kidney Clinic
Uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure, which is common in people with diabetes, are the biggest risk factors for chronic kidney disease. So this clinic will aim to improve knowledge and awareness of this serious complication of diabetes across the entire multi-disciplinary team.
The clinic will feature a programme of practical education about diabetes kidney disease (DKD) and other diabetes-related kidney complications, aimed at all levels of experience and specialisms. Speakers will include renal specialists, diabetes specialist healthcare professionals, and primary and community care healthcare professionals.
Sessions will range from basic education on the renal-diabetes connection, through demonstrations of best practice in identifying risk in primary care, to renal health considerations for HCPs working with diabetes patients in secondary and specialist care.
