JDRF research: innovations and opportunities for healthcare professionals

How we treat type 1 diabetes is evolving. From hybrid closed loop to novel insulins, immunotherapies to lab-grown beta cells, research and technology advancements are transforming our potential to manage type 1 diabetes. We are learning more about the biological differences between individuals with type 1 diabetes and the impact of psychosocial factors on their management of the condition - both of which could one day contribute to more personalised diabetes healthcare.

It is crucial for healthcare professionals to be aware of the diabetes therapies emerging and how to prepare for them so that you can give their diabetes patients the best possible care. JDRF's Research Communications Lead will take you through some of the vital research JDRF is funding in the UK, the potential for healthcare professionals to get involved in JDRF-funded research, and the future treatments that are rapidly emerging from the cutting-edge of type 1 diabetes research.

Learning outcomes:

  • To understand what research JDRF funds and how healthcare professionals can get involved.
  • To learn what potential treatments for type 1 diabetes are emerging from research.
