11 Nov 2020
CVRM Theatre

Are we blaming salt for what the sugar did? For people with T2D insulin has been known to cause renal sodium retention since 1996. In this environment a high carb, high insulin state causes salt and fluid retention which puts BP up. In our GP practice we found a low carb diet helps reverse this, delivering significant improvements in blood pressure despite deprescribing 20% of all drugs for Hypertension
