Standard of care for clinical management in individuals with type 1 diabetes is rapidly evolving, from the most recent NICE position of MDI Insulin therapy guided by SMBG tests (6-8 daily), the last 2 years has seen the rapid uptake of iCGM sensors (FreeStyle Libre) such that now approximately 30% of people with T1D have access to the technology.

Our role as HCPs is to ensure that each individual has the most suitable tools to manage their diabetes, and to ensure that they are able to use them in the most effective way. This session will address the issues of optimising assessment for CGM and when using it to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Learning outcomes:

Assessment of individuals prior to CGM use

The T1D technology pathway and CGM choices

Using CGM effectively – developing a rapid structured assessment for consultations

Speakers
Iain Cranston, Consultant Physician (Diabetes, Endocrinology) - Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust
