Now in its third year, Diabetes Professional Care (DPC) has closed the education gap for everyone involved in the prevention and management of diabetes. DPC’s aim is to provide the best real-world education, delivered by some of the most senior and respected diabetes educators.
DPC founder Maggie Meer presents the back story to the launch of DPC2015 – an event born out of real experience of diabetes, and an event committed to improving the real experience of the health care professionals at the front line of diabetes care.
“26 Tablets a day, insulin and a weekly morphine patch! Is it any wonder I felt the need to try and get more information from the Healthcare Professionals who are involved in my care to talk to each other and more importantly, to me?
I have been a person with Diabetes since 2004 and have been able to keep it under control, but I have other health complications and have experienced years of frustration about the ‘un-joined up’ way in which diabetes care is managed, resulting in me coming to the conclusion that there was a desperate need to address the issue of providing more information and help to HCP’s, scientists and professionals so that they were better equipped to help the patients.
As an event professional myself, and after much discussion with many professionals, professional bodies and consultants, my two colleagues Loretta Meer and Karen Richardson and I decided the solution was a conference and exhibition which covered many different topics relevant to any professional dealing with diabetes type 1 or type 2.
We felt the event also needed to address the difficult budgetary constraints currently put on staff within the NHS so we decided it should be free to attend and with an educational programme strong enough to provide delegates with CPD credits.
Now in its third year, DPC has gone from strength to strength. There is clearly a huge demand for the event, and we are excited about running our biggest show yet at DPC2017.
Healthcare Publishing & Events was formed by 3 individuals who wanted to make a difference. Their vision was to develop an organisation which would create and organise events which would be worthwhile and high value to all stakeholders, and over time would become respected in their fields.
The 3 Directors of the company, Maggie Meer, Karen Richardson and Loretta Meer collectively have over 90 years experience in Conferences, Events, Publishing and Commerce. Utilising the skills and wealth of knowledge they have in these areas they launched Diabetes Professional Care 2015 (DPC), in November 2015. Diabetes Professional Care is a truly unique event for Healthcare Professionals, Senior Level Executives, CCG’s and Scientists who have a professional interest in Diabetes and its co-morbidities. Following the successful launch of DPC in November 2015 at the Barbican Exhibition Halls in London, the event has moved to Olympia London to accommodate the amazing growth of the event in its first year.
Our goal is to ensure that Diabetes Professional Care and all subsequent projects undertaken by Healthcare Publishing and Events are underpinned by a key characteristic – that we really listen to our stakeholders to ensure that both they and the patients that they care for are the true benefactors.
We will continue to grow the company whilst building on our portfolio of forward-thinking and unique healthcare events. We are keen to continue developing our relationships with likeminded organisations and charities.
